Doncaster Week – 26

Hey Yall!

It has been a good week.

Highlights;

-got given authentic Indian fried rice dinner while door knocking. Shoutout Sher.

-George, new friend. From Romania. Has been searching for the truth. Super cool

-Lots of fun conversations with strangers

-Almost got ran down by Chavs (thugs)

-Had a meal appointment every single day  this week (shoutout Doncaster members)

Speaking of meal appointments. I am working my best to not gain weight. So what I have been doing to circumvent and navigate around the challenge of 1. Needing to lose weight. Still having a good relation with the ward, by showing appreciation for the food they give us, by eating it.

So what I have done, is the days that we have a meal appointment. I do not eat breakfast or lunch. This leaves me with enough room to fully enjoy the food, and show my appreciation for the members.

The only downside, is that i am highly unlikely to hit my protein goal for the day. But. Sacrifices must be made.

Other than that dilemma which I have had to live with this week. It has been great. This upcoming week, there is only 2 days we do not have a meal appointment. So I will have 2 days that I can hit my protein goal. That’s a plus. Started doing this when I picked up my trainee. Started at 230, last week was 227. This week 226. So we are getting there. Goal is below 200. I haven’t been below that in a looong time. So that is the aspiration.

Had our first mentor meeting. For my trainee ( new missionary, not greenie) was pretty lit. We had like 12 people confirm for church, but then only 3 showed up. But thats okay. We will get them this week 🙂

Spiritual thougt:

I have been reading Mosiah. It is very good. The story of Abinadi is one that every missionary can look to. He converted only one person. Alma, but look at the good that comes from that one person. That also relates into finding the One, the lost sheep, the chosen one, the prodigal son. All of those topics/stories. So focus on one person you can help. Whether that be a friend, family member, co-worker, or a stranger you have seen around town.

I invite you all to keep this commitment to help that one person. I will follow up next week. I better hear some stories from yall 🙂

Things are amazing in Doncaster. Gotta get off the train so I can go buy food to cook the district dinner, chicken parmesean Alfredo. (Pics will be on my google photos, join to see what im doing)

I love you all!

Needless to say, pretty interesting week. But such is life When you are a servant in Gods hands.

SON:                   ELDER JEPSON

AGE:                    19

HEIGHT:             5’10

WEIGHT:            135

LOCATION:        SARATOGA SPRINGS

OCCUPATION:  SUMMER SALES

He is really great, very extroverted. Which is good, because i still need to work on that.

I would leave yall with a spiritual thought. However I am out of time, and need to adhere to the standards which have been set. And relinquish myself to my domicile of drowsiness in which I intend to reset my olfactory settings which are overwhelmed due to the nature of the work of a servant of the Lord.

GOODNIGHT!!

Doncaster – Week 24

Hey yall!

Twas a good week. Visited alot of people previously in contact with missionaries. Had some great lessons.

Highlights

-Last district council

-Almost hit pidgeon #2

-Lit lesson at the Dewey’s mansion (for England standards)

-Our friend told us to call the police for him, (now he isnt responding, hope he is still alive)

-Got lost on a dirt road/walkway in the car. Then proceeded to eat 240 popcorn nuggets from KFC ( as a district. Not just me)

-Chair footie

-The great monster wall collapse

-Reorganized the flat 🙂

I had a really good discussion with one of the members at our family home evening lesson tonight. We were talking about how many of our friends have partners that they have been with for a long time, but have never married. And this member, himself being a convert who was with his partner for many years before the were married and subsiquently baptized. Had some good insight. Here in England, there is not very many cultural, or monetary benefits to being married. Often, you actually recieve more incentive to stay seperated and file as a single parent, therefore, gaining support via the government. Marrige used to be pushed cultrually very much. But due to dwindling cohesion of faith and life, that cultural nudge isnt there anymore. Plus many people are much more worried about finances, and how to “beat the system” than doing the right thing. We also releyed that to lack of knowledge of gospel principles. Such as eternal marrige, and how important families really are. I have spoke before about the cinicallity of the people here in England, so I wont crack open that can of decomposing worms. But it does tie in.

I have been blessed and privledged to have a Mother who is very knowledgable of human tendencies, due to the nature of her studies and work. And a Father who carries a similar calmness and understanding of life. So those things have also been passed to me, which I have delighted in sharing these insights with everyone. (Shoutout Mom and Dad)

I know that we have a purpose, that God is our loving Heavenly Father, that He wants us to be like him, even better. Just as a father teaches his son to be like him, but to also be better. God wants us to be better, to glorify him through our obedience. During a recent lesson with a very knowledgable member. He mentioned Jesus’s “sermon on the mount” In which Jesus gave the people, “the higher law”. Just as life has different levels and experiences, there is a higher law that has been given that we must live. And those laws we recieve are for our benefit, even if they seem hinderences of natural life, we all know the natural man is an enemy to God.

That is my spiritual thought for yall. Take care, Jesus loves you!

I am doing well. I will be picking up my Trainee on Wednesday, wish me luck… no. blessings! Thats a better wish 🙂

Doncaster – Week 23

Hey yall!

This week went by quick.

Highlights:

-Interviews with President Kerr ( I am training next transfer!!!)

-Everybody got sick

-found some cool stuff while cleaning the kitchen 😉 dont tell.

-Travis got Baptised!!!!

-Had a lot of lessons.

-Finished the Monster wall (started last transfer by Elder Fungavaka and Elder Crowther)

-Finished building another Derby hotwheels

-Almost got old man diarrhea on my pants in the bus station.

Yea, about that last point. That happened on Saturday, the district met up at French gate (shopping mall). And we had lunch there, it was lit. We went off to go visit some refferalls who hadn’t been answering their phones. But I had to take a quick whizz. Luckily, the bus station is below/attached to the shopping center. So we went down there do take care of business. Saw one of our friends who works there as a security guard, chiller. Proceeded to utilize the lovely bus station public restroom. All went well.

As I was leaving. (The entrance/exit is pretty narrow. Like a doorway, but no door. ) An old fella with a walker blocks my exit. But still facing the direction of walking traffic, down the hall. He looks at me, i say sorry, and step back to let him through. But he stays still and looks up at the restroom sign. (Slowly) I proceed to sneak by him while glancing down, I realize I smell something somewhat reminiscent of dog fouling ( as the Brits call it ). I make it past the fella, who is still standing still in the doorway to the latrine. And as I make it past him, looking down, see a sorrowful sight. Poor man didn’t make it to the throne of relief. ðŸ˜ž

Liquid brown drippings, of what most likely had once been English curry, and classical fish and chippy, have made their migration through the borders of his shorts.

As I met up with my companion, who was sitting across the way, wrapped in his own world of contacting our friends. Looks up, and realizes the stench, and familiar brown tone and consistency that trails for 40 feet up the station tile. Some clumps larger than others. I am checking my pants and shoes to make sure I accidentally didnt rub any on me, as we walk away, grimacing.

We saw a janitorial lady, pushing one of those cleaning carts, we informed her that an elderly man has had an unfortunate accident. We gave our condolences as she thanked us for the heads up. She sighed as  she made her way toward the “trail of indigested beers”

Me and Elder Fungavaka, shook, walked away to fulfill our mission purpose. Reminiscing of what had just happened.

I dont have enough time to give a spiritual thought, my bad. But it was a good week. Jesus loves you! Do good unto others.
