11 y\/o Camp-Outs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 7th, James went on his first 11 year old Scout Camp Out with his patrol (scout troop).\u00a0 Dad (David) got to go with him and they went to the Palisades Park south of Manti, UT.\u00a0 James was feeling a bit sick on the ride there, and shortly after dinner threw-up.\u00a0 The other scouts nick-named him the &#8220;chunky monkey&#8221; on honor of his contribution to the campsite &#8211; a name James repeated with pride throughout the rest of the camp out.\u00a0 The next day we worked on knots and lashings and took a nature trail hike around the small lake that is in the park.<\/p>\n<p>This picture is of the way NOT to pack your 11 y\/o scouts for a camp out:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_423\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-423\" style=\"width: 487px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-423\" title=\"20100730-scout-campout-james-truck-IMG00055-web\" src=\"http:\/\/berky.org\/family\/wp-content\/uploads\/20100730-scout-campout-james-truck-IMG00055-web.jpg\" alt=\"James - All packed to go!\" width=\"487\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.berky.org\/family\/wp-content\/uploads\/20100730-scout-campout-james-truck-IMG00055-web.jpg 487w, https:\/\/www.berky.org\/family\/wp-content\/uploads\/20100730-scout-campout-james-truck-IMG00055-web-300x238.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 487px) 85vw, 487px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-423\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">James - All packed to go!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The next week, May 14th, was the Diamond Fork District Spring Camporee.\u00a0 Since the 11 y\/o patrol had just gone on a camp out the previous week, just James and David went to the Spring Camporee.\u00a0 There James earned 2 merit badges Aviation and Space Exploration.\u00a0 David and James shared a tent and had trouble cooking their hamburgers that night because it was so windy.\u00a0 After a presentation about aviation, in the evening, they returned to their camp site and were able to cook their dinner &#8211;
